Bennco Engineering boosts Pilbara production with new Haco Synchromaster press brake
How do you keep large-scale fabrication running smoothly in one of the most remote industrial regions in the world? The Pilbara, in Western Australia, is a vast and rugged area known for its iron ore mines, extreme conditions and long transport routes. For Bennco Engineering, operating at the heart of it all, reliability and self-sufficiency are key. Their workshop in Tom Price recently received a major upgrade: a new Haco Synchromaster 40250 CNC pressbrake, built to handle demanding bending work with precision and speed.
A new chapter in local fabrication
Bennco Engineering has built its reputation on delivering high-quality structural, mechanical and piping fabrication for the mining and resources sector. Working in such a remote region means every piece of equipment has to perform flawlessly. That’s why Bennco decided to invest in a new pressbrake that combines accuracy, consistency and easy operation.
According to Geoff Archer, General Manager for Haco in Australia, the Synchromaster was the ideal fit. He explains that the machine’s design focuses on reliability and intuitive control, allowing operators to complete complex bending jobs faster and with greater precision. “It’s all about giving fabricators the confidence to push productivity without compromising on quality,” he says.
Built to perform
The Synchromaster 40250 offers a bending length of 4100 mm and a pressing capacity of 2500 kN, making it a powerful workhorse for heavy-duty applications. Equipped with the EASYBEND 2D Multi Touch system, operators can program bends quickly, visualise each step in real time and let the machine automatically calculate the optimal bending sequence.
Geoff Archer highlights that the Y1/Y2 hydraulic synchro system ensures exact positioning within a tolerance of just 0.01 mm, while the CNC crowning table guarantees a perfectly straight bend every time. Combined with a fast approach speed of 130 mm per second, the pressbrake delivers both precision and productivity on a daily basis.
Strengthening local capability
By bringing this level of technology to Tom Price, Bennco Engineering can now bend and fabricate more components onsite for quicker delivery to its customers across the Pilbara. For Geoff Archer, this investment reflects a broader trend: “Companies like Bennco want to keep their manufacturing close to where their projects are. With the Synchromaster pressbrake, they can do more locally and maintain total control over quality and timing.”
