Under the auspices of "Ion Ionescu de la Brad" University of Life Science of Iasi and under the close coordination of the team within the Scientific Research and Innovation Department, within the 378PED / 2020 - Program PN III Research Project, CHAMBON S.R.L., Romania (as the Partner), performed an innovative hybrid dryer model with high frequency currents and convection for grain seeds dehydration (MIUH).

The development of the innovative hybrid dryer model with high frequency currents and convection for grain seeds dehydration (MIUH) was for CHAMBON S.R.L. a challenging opportunity, as all the equipment required our particular attention being the first model of this type entirely manufactured and assembled by the company.
Such hybrid dryers are mainly used in the agro-food industry for drying granular and powdered products (cereal seed and technical plants, malt, flour, etc.). For this reason, dryers are manufactured in different versions depending on the nature of the dry product.
Generally, the dryers include sub-assemblies specific to the requirements of the dehydration technology of the product in question.
At present, in the industry of drying agricultural plant seeds, vertical and horizontal driers are used. These are based only on convection dehydration where the heat is transferred by convection from the drying agent to the product. As drying agent, hot air, combustion gases, overheated steam, etc. are used.
The raw material (agricultural plant seeds) behaves differently according to its structure and composition and drying takes a long time. Accordingly the energy consumption is high. The innovative model of hybrid dryer by high frequency currents and convection for dehydration of agricultural seeds solves this problem by significantly reducing drying time and energy consumption per kilogram of dry product, maintaining the final quality of the seeds.
The model of the innovative hybrid dryer with high frequency currents and convection for grain seeds dehydration (MIUH) is the object of the Research, Development and Innovation Project 378PED / 2020 - under the PN III Program (PED). As drying agent for the hybrid drying of agricultural seeds it uses the hot air produced by a generator with electrical resistors and three magnetrons for dry with high frequency currents. (a) The constructive form and precise execution of the component parts and (b) the placement of the magnetrons in positions established by numerical simulation, enable the uniform and short-term drying of the agricultural seeds.
The dryer model is modular allowing the installation and dismantling of the equipment in the shortest possible time and easy transportation to all agricultural areas of the country. The use of electrical power to produce the thermal agent and the monitoring of the temperature and humidity parameters throughout the drying process make it easy to monitor energy consumption. The optimal shape of the dryer geometry allows a rotational and translational movement of the seeds, providing a uniformity of the seed temperature in the drying process. As a novelty in this field, the University of Life Sciences "Ion Ionescu de la Brad" from Iasi has filed in a patent application for this dryer model in order to support all Romanian farmers and those from abroad.
