Under the auspices of "Ion Ionescu de la Brad" University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Iasi and under the close coordination of the team within the Scientific Research and Innovation Department, within the 18PED / 2017 - Program PN III Research Project, CHAMBON S.R.L., Romania (as the Partner) performed an innovative vertical drier model with heat recovery for grain seeds dehydration (MIUV).
S.C. CHAMBON S.R.L. Romania, supports and contributes to the development of the Romanian industry through its partnerships with various R & D institutions. The implementation of the innovative vertical drier model with heat recovery for cereal seed dehydration (MIUV) represented for CHAMBON S.R.L. a challenge, as all the equipment required our particular attention, being the first model of this type, entirely manufactured and assembled by us.
Such convective dryers are used mainly in the agro-food industry for drying granular and powdered products (cereal seed and technical plants, malt, flour, etc.). For this reason, dryers are manufactured in different versions depending on the nature of the dry product. Generally, the dryers include sub-assemblies specific to the requirements of the dehydration technology of the product in question.
At present, in the world for the drying of agricultural plant seeds vertical and horizontal driers with continuous and discontinuous running are used, which are based on convection dehydration, where the heat is transferred by convection from the drying agent to the product. As drying agent, hot air, combustion gases, overheated steam, etc. are used.
The raw material (agricultural plants seed) subject to the drying process, behaves differently according to its structure and composition. For this reason, some types of seeds do not bear aggressive drying conditions, characterized by uneven temperatures and speeds of the drying agent when passing through the product layer to be dried.
The model of the innovative vertical drier with heat recovery for cereal seed dehydration (MIUV) - object of the Research, Development and Innovation Project 18PED / 2017 - under the PN III Program, uses for the drying of agricultural seeds as drying agent the hot air produced by a generator with electrical resistors. The constructive form and precise execution of the component parts allow a uniform distribution of the drying agent in the agricultural seed layer. The seed layer thickness is of 100 mm and the layout of the layer in the drier is a circular one.
The production of this dryer model is a modular one with five sections allowing the installation and dismantling of the equipment in the shortest possible time, as well as its easy transportation in different regions and agricultural areas of the country. The use of power to produce the thermal agent and the monitoring of the temperature and humidity parameters throughout the drying process make it easy to monitor energy consumption.
The items that differentiate this dryer model from the others in the same category and which add value to this equipment are: the optimal shape of the geometry, the uniform distribution of the drying agent and of the temperature inside the seed layer. These lead to a 6-10% lower energy consumption and a 10-15% drying time compared to the existing dryers in the world. As a novelty in this field, the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine "Ion Ionescu de la Brad" from Iasi has filed in a patent application for this dryer model in order to support all Romanian farmers and those from abroad.
